National Forests of the East and South Welcome You

THE gateways of the national forests of the East and South stand hospitably open, inviting everyone to enjoy an endless variety of scenic beauty and recreation. These national forests are not a dream of the future. Right now nearly 5,000,000 acres of public forests—real, rugged mountain and timber lands—await man's response to the call of the out of doors. (Fig. 1.) A glance at the map in the back of this publication is convincing. There is a national forest within a few hours' ride of any home in the South or East.

The national forests are yours to use and enjoy; help take care of them. Forest destruction is quick; forest growth is slow.
