John H. Ainsworth (born 1909) was a paper company executive who produced an educational series on paper manufacturing and authored Paper: The Fifth Wonder.

John H. Ainsworth was born in Manchester, England in 1909. At an early age he migrated to Canada, living in Alberta and British Columbia. He gained broad and varied experience in the paper industry throughout his career, holding a variety of positions and responsibilities. He worked sixteen years at Crown Zellerbach's mill at Ocean Falls, B.C., and then served as Technical Director for Bloedel, Stewart, and Welch at Port Alberni, B.C., Canada. He gained further experience in the industry when he moved to the United States, where he worked at mills in such states as Alabama, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Ainsworth produced and conducted an extensive series of educational programs, films, and books on the manufacturing and converting of paper. These works have been used as text material in paper mills, allied industries, colleges, and universities throughout Canada, the United States, and many other countries. In 1956, he was honored for his achievements in the paper industry, becoming a recipient of the Bolton Award "in recognition of his outstanding contribution to a better understanding of Human Relations in the Pulp and Paper Industries of North America."
