Large drum box testing machine.

This machine developed at the Forest products Laboratory is 14 feet in diameter across the corners and each face of the hexagon is 7′ x 8′. It weighs approximately 27 tons and is suitable for testing boxes or crates up to 4 feet in each dimension and weighing 1,000 pounds. The testing machine was used at the Forest Products Laboratory for designing and testing boxes and crates for shipment of various kinds of war material such as shells, bombs, foodstuffs, etc.
