Historical Note

In 1964, forestry leaders founded the Assocition of State College and University Forestry Research Organizations (ASCUFRO) to support the McIntire-Stennis Cooperative Forestry Research Program, a public law providing increased federal funding for institutional forestry research. The National Association of Professional Forestry Schools and Colleges (NAPFSC) replaced ASCUFRO in 1981, later renamed the National Association of University Forest Resources Programs (NAUFRP).
