DOG 2025:
FHS Celebrates SAF's 125th Anniversary

The Forest History Society is teaming up with the Society of American Foresters to help them celebrate their 125th anniversary! As organizations we are tied together through history. In fact, the FHS is home to the SAF archival records. FHS was selected as the permanent repository for the historical records of SAF in 1965. Since that time nearly 500 boxes of materials have been sent to FHS, making the SAF Records our second-largest archival collection.
The records contain correspondence and reference files regarding administration, elections, memberships, forestry education, timber and forestry conferences, surveys of industrial forests, ethics, internal debates and so on. We are honored to hold this treasure trove of historical records in the A.J. Huss Archives at our headquarters in Durham, NC, and we are pleased to be the preservation partner to the SAF; organizing records to be kept safe for all, providing research and reference assistance for anyone seeking content in the collection.
Your gift to the Forest History will help ensure that invaluable historic archival collections like the SAF and others are preserved and made available for research and reference – making a lasting impact on forestry for the future!
In fact, beginning now through the June 30, your gift to the FHS will be matched dollar-for-dollar during our Matching Gift Campaign. Here’s how TO DOUBLE YOUR GIVING TO THE FHS THIS YEAR!
- Be a first-time donor/member to the FHS – YOUR GIFT WILL BE MATCHED!
- Already gave this year? Give a second gift to the FHS in any amount. YOUR GIFT WILL BE MATCHED!
