Abstract: Heinrich Rubner (born 1925) is a German historian and forest scientist. He has published on the history of forestry during the Industrial Revolution and the period in which National Socialism emerged. In 1985, Heinrich Rubner published a book on forestry in Nazi Germany, Deutsche Forstgeschichte, 1933-1945.
The collection includes photographs, maps, photocopies, and other materials collected by Heinrich Rubner in the course of preparing Deutsche Forstgeschichte, 1933-1945, his book on forestry in Nazi Germany. Also includes some materials from his father Konrad F. Rubner, who was also a forester in Germany. Materials date from circa 1910-1990s.

Biographical Note
Heinrich Rubner (born 1925) is a German historian and forest scientist. He has published on the history of forestry during the Industrial Revolution and the period in which National Socialism emerged. In 1985, Heinrich Rubner published a book on forestry in Nazi Germany, Deutsche Forstgeschichte, 1933-1945.
Heinrich Rubner was born in Grafath, Upper Bavaria, Germany, on November 2, 1925 to forest scientist Konrad F. Rubner. Konrad Rubner held notable positions throughout his career, including officer of Forest Military at Bialowieza State Park in Poland and Belorus (1915-1918), chair of Silviculture at Tharandt in Saxony (1928-1945), head of the Department of Silviculture at Munich (1948-1952), and professor emeritus (1957).
Heinrich Rubner was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps in 1943 in Silesia, a soldier from 1944-1945 and prisoner of war 1945-1948. Heinrich earned his doctorate in geography in 1955, with a thesis on forest history in 1962. From 1963 to 1969, he held a lectureship in forest history; during this time, he published Forest History in the Age of the Industrial Revolution (1967).
From 1969 until his retirement, Heinrich was a professor of social history at the the University of Regensburg. From 1979 to 1992, he held a leadership position in the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations (IUFRO). In 1985, he published his most notable work, Deutsche Forstgeschichte, 1933-1945 (English translation: German Forest History from 1933 to 1945: Forestry, Hunting and the Environment in the Nazi State). In the same year, Rubner was appounted as a fellow of the Forest History Society. Since 1988, he has been a member of the Academie d'Agriculture Francaise. In 2006, Heinrich Rubner was elected to the board of the Gorres Society.
