Collection Overview

This collection includes a series of aerial photographs taken of the Tahoe National Forest and surrounding area. The bulk of the photos were part of a 1939 aerial survey. Also included are some aerial photos from 1982, 1983, and 1987. The 1939 photos are black and white, taken at a scale of 1:20,000, with a flight ID symbol of CDJ. The 1939 numbers listed represent roughly north-south or south-north flight paths (for reference, photo sets 14, 15, and 16 fly in part over Lake Tahoe.) Most of the aerial photos include pen markings and notations. The 1980s aerial photos are in color.
