The Forest History Society will offer a Teacher Institute in Environmental History with guest speakers:
The Teacher Institute is especially geared toward Social Studies teachers (grades 6-10). Environmental Education is not just for Science teachers any more! Learn more about our exciting If Trees Could Talk curriculum to introduce your students to Environmental History. Interesting discussion topics, hands-on activities, critical thinking skills, team teaching suggestions for other subjects, and much, much more are included in these free, on-line modules. The Institute will also introduce The Greatest Good, a U.S. Forest Service Centennial film. You will learn to use the film in conjunction with the If Trees Could Talk curriculum and hear from guest speakers on various Environmental History topics. By attending this institute you can receive a $125 stipend and other goodies to take back to your classroom.
